WINTER RESIDENCIES

WATERSHED / MAYK

For one of Europe’s leading independent cinemas Watershed and creative arts festival MAYK, we produced three thought-provoking shorts documenting artists who are responding to the climate crisis.

We are introduced to three unique practices, each selected for the 2020 Winter Residency programme, developing works that explore technology and our place in the wider world.

From experimental robotic sculptures, to duetting with a humpback whale, and building a Martian house, these projects focus on the effects of climate breakdown on our planet and local environment. They challenge us on topics such as noise pollution in the ocean and our demand for gas and oil, from interplanetary survival, to sustainable energy and biodegradable electronics.

Voiced by the artists themselves, supported with shots of them working in the Pervasive Media Studio space, the films are teasers for their final projects.

Shooting in controlled light, we allocated a colour – orange, blue & green – for each artist’s project to emphasise the mood of their work and their specialisms.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL:

“A dream to work with. Organised, reliable and delivered beyond expectation, including beautiful gifs we were able to use on social channels.”
